Brewed in Cape Town. Distilled in the bush.
It started in a Cape Town garage with my dad and a homebrew kit. Beer turned into curiosity, curiosity turned into a 5-litre copper still, and that still kept getting bigger. 25 litres. Then 600 litres of stainless steel.
Somewhere along the way we moved to Bundu River Lodge — the family resort we've been building since 1990, and now run as sole owners. Building, brewing, distilling, producing things by hand: that's what runs in the family.
Bundu Rum is what that turned into. Slow gold rum, distilled by the sun on the banks of the river, aged in oak in the bushveld. Small batch by necessity, not as a marketing word.
Family since 1990
Bundu River Lodge has been part of the family for over three decades. The rum is made on the same land.
Solar distilled
Powered entirely by the South African sun. The bushveld provides everything we need.
Aged in oak
Six months minimum in 100-litre barrels at 60%, bottled at 43% with an oak staff that keeps aging at home.
